If you’re seeking stress relief from any of the many situations that can keep many people awake these nights, rest confidently that there are ways to slow down and get some relief.  You may simply have to test what methods works best for you (as well as learn to reduce what originally caused your stress or anxiety).

Lately, it may be losses you’ve experienced in the stock market or maybe you’ve been laid off or your company shut down permanently.  Maybe it’s the unfortunate trials of disease or divorce that make you question decision you’ve made.  No matter the cause, stress can be a slight annoyance to some and completely debilitating to others.

Stress relief can come in many forms.  A long massage comes to mind immediately for many dreaming of relief.  An hour on the table with warm hands working out the knots and soreness from your shoulders, back and neck is like heaven for the tense among us.  Add in some aromatherapy candles and some peaceful sounds of the ocean, and you might not only forget your stress, but drift off to a state of total bliss. 

Exercise may also bring some relief.  It almost sounds contradictory; after all, how could making your tired pectorals lift weights or your poor thighs carry you for a 30-minute run possibly reduce stress?  Surprisingly, getting the heart rate up and focusing on breathing can really provide for relaxation soon after your workout is over.

Maybe a hot soak in the hot tub is the answer.  Almost sounds as good as the massage, doesn’t it?  A hot shower or bath may be a suitable alternative, but situate yourself between the blowing jets and bubbling foam of a spa tub, and stress will soon wave its white flag of surrender in every recess of your mind.  Your thoughts will clear, muscles will loosen, and headaches dissipate.

Nothing quite working for you just yet?  How about a simple approach to decreasing some of stress causes?  Spend time with supportive friends and family members.  Often   they’ll help you see alternative views and actions that you don’t see for yourself since you’re too close to the situation.  Sickness, divorce, and financial troubles affect those around you also.  Sit down with them and determine the pros of what’s going on; forget the cons for a while.  What can you learn?  How will you be a better person with the stress lets up?  Remember these things when you want to focus only on the negative.

Stress relief isn’t as out of reach as it sometimes seems.  If you’ve only got five minutes between meetings at work, even some deep breaths while you close your eyes for a few moments may renew you enough to keep going.  Try the suggestions shown here and seek out others they may work even better for you.  It’s really not that bad; and remember there’s always tomorrow.  Reduce a little stress each day and soon you’ll find stress relief more frequently and more solidly.
